Guest Portal

Last updated:

In short

A hotel guest portal is a web-based application — usually opened via a QR code in the room — that gives a guest one place to order, request, chat, pay, unlock the door, and access the hotel guide. Unlike a native hotel app, it requires no install.

Guest Portal

Guest portals replaced the hotel-app dream once it became clear that many travellers don't download single-use apps. A QR-launched web portal removes the app-store step: scan and use. Modern guest portals are progressive web apps (PWAs), so a guest can save them to the home screen for the duration of their stay if they want, but the default flow is browser-based. The portal hosts the menu, service requests, transfer booking, live chat with reception, AI concierge, digital door unlock (if integrated), WiFi credentials, and the hotel guide.

Why it matters

Every guest who would have called reception, lined up at the desk, or sent a confused email becomes a self-service interaction. For boutique hotels with thin staff, this is the difference between a five-star service feel and a frustrated arrival.

How Guestivo helps

Frequently asked questions

Because many one-time guests will not install a hotel-specific app. A QR-launched web portal removes that install step and lets the guest open the service from the browser.

Yes. Guestivo's portal supports the hotel's logo, colours, custom welcome copy, and custom domain — guests see a hotel-branded experience, not a Guestivo-branded one.

Most static content (menu, guide, WiFi info) caches on first load and works offline. Order placement requires connectivity. Hotels typically expose their guest WiFi network via the same portal so connectivity is rarely a problem.
