Hotel Group Booking Rate Calculator

Calculate the net rate after a group discount on your BAR. Standard discount range 10-25% depending on group size and dates.

Group net rate per room per night

Formula

Group rate = BAR × (1 - Discount % / 100)

Worked example

BAR for a Saturday in spring: €180. Wedding block of 25 rooms requesting 15% discount. Group rate = €180 × (1 - 0.15) = €153 per room per night. With 25 rooms × 2 nights = €7,650 total revenue.

Why it matters

Group discounts are often given by gut. A structured calculation forces explicit thinking about the trade-off — what transient rate you'd capture instead, and whether the group displaces higher-paying bookings. The discipline matters most on peak dates where 15-20% discount on a group can cost more than the group brings in.

Frequently asked questions

10-15% for small groups on flexible dates. 15-20% for larger groups (20+ rooms). 0-5% (essentially BAR) for groups on peak dates with strong demand.

Yes, on top of the negotiated room rate where applicable. Itemise these separately so the group contract is transparent.

Standard contract includes an attrition clause — typically 80% pickup commitment, with fees if the group falls below. Calculate fees as the difference between committed and actual pickup, at the group rate.

Value those add-ons explicitly and discount them from the room rate separately. Bundling without breaking out costs hides the true economics of the deal.
